Unterschleißheim´s Coat of Arms

The shield of the coat of arms is divided. The upper part shows a golden zigzag line on a blue background. The lower part incorporates a green branch of a spruce and a green oak leaf on a golden background.
The coat of arms is a symbol for Unterschleißheim´s past and presence.
The upper part of the arm refers to the monastery Scheyern, which had owned significantly large property within
the urban area since the 12th century. The zigzag line, however, is the actual coat of arms of the
Scheyrer-Wittelbacher.
Herewith, the city´s coat of arms goes even further back to the beginnings of our community. Approximately in 1180, the
Earl Ekkehard of Scheyern transferred a yard and two houses in Schleißheim to the monastery Scheyern.
The golden zigzag line reminds of the properties, which belonged to Wittelsbach-Scheyern in the 12th century and are
now our city´s property.
The lower field is a symbol of Lohhof´s name, the largest of the three parts of town. The name is a synonym for
"Hof an der Lohe" (Yard on Lohe), a clear mixed forest. The city accepted the coat of arms in 1965.
